Le Nimda virus (code name W32/Nimda) is a worm that spreads through e-mail. It first appeared on September 18, 2001. It is a virus that caused traffic slowdowns as it spreads across. Unlike other viruses Nimda appears to be a carrier of infection, it does not appear to cause direct file damage but is responsible for loss of traffic known as denial-of-service.
